The objective of Smart Ass is to be the first player to reach “The End” space.
The reader for the rounds starts by rolling the color die. The color rolled on the die determines what type of round will be played.
Blue – What Am I?
Green – Where Am I?
Orange – Who Am I?
Depending on what color is rolled, the reader takes the top card from the corresponding pile.
Starting with the top clue on the card, the reader reads one clue at a time.
At any time the other players can make a guess on what the reader is describing. When you have an answer, shout it out as quickly as possible. If your answer is wrong, you are eliminated from the current round.
The reader continues to read clues until one of the players guess correctly. The player that guesses correctly rolls the number die and moves the corresponding number of spaces.
Depending on what space your playing piece lands on, you may take a special action.
Should no one guess the answer correctly, the reader gets to roll the number die and move their playing piece the corresponding number of spaces.
If multiple players guess correctly at the same time, the reader decides who answered first. If there is no way to tell who answered first, the reader uses a question from a Hard Ass card to break the tie. The first player to guess the correct answer gets to roll the number die and move their playing piece. If both players are wrong, the reader gets to roll the number die and move their playing piece.
After any special action is taken, the next round begins with the player clockwise/left of the previous reader becoming the new reader.
When you land on this space, you will skip the next round. If you would have been a guesser, you cannot submit an answer. If you would have been the reader, the player to your left becomes the reader for the next round.
Should there only be two players, the player that doesn’t land on the Dumb Ass Space gets to roll the number die and move the corresponding number of spaces. The game then continues normally with both players playing the next round.
When you land on this space you will be asked a bonus question. The current reader selects a Hard Ass card and reads a question from it. The game recommends you read the top question on each card first, and then move onto the bottom questions.
Only the player that landed on the space gets to try and answer the question. If they answer the question correctly, they will roll the number die and move the corresponding number of spaces.
If the player answers incorrectly, nothing happens. The reader does not get to roll the number die for the player answering incorrectly.
When you land on this space, you must move your playing piece back three spaces.
The first player to reach The End space wins the game. You do not have to reach the final space by exact count.
